Smart Doorbell with IKEA ZigBee Button and Raspberry Pi - RustyOx - 10-09-2022
How it works:
(Ikea button) -> ZigBee USB dongle -> ZigBee2mqtt -> Mosquito-> HabApp -> Raspberry Pi 4
->Pi actions:
- Play Dingdong sound (MP3) via Bluetooth speaker
- Press wireless doorbell button via relay
- Send doorbell pressed SMS message
- Send doorbell pressed email message

Raspberry pi 4 with ZigBee usb dongle and 4 channel relay boards. It runs ZigBee2mqtt, Mosquito MQTT broker, HabApp rules engine, OpenHab Home Automation Server.
ZigBee2mqtt is used to bridge IKEA doorbell button and Mosquito MQTT server (broker)

Bluetooth speaker connected to Raspberry pi via Bluetooth. It plays sounds such as Dingdong.

Nexus 5 connected to Raspberry Pi 4, it is servicing as SMS gateway to send SMS messages.

Raspberry pi turns on the relay briefly (100ms) to send RF433MHz radio to trigger this traditional wireless doorbell.
This served as backup doorbell as Bluetooth speaker sometimes disconnected.

Why smart Doorbell:
- You got email and SMS message with timestamp even not at home
- Can use to trigger any other actions such as turn on light, camera etc.
- Can mute on night, no disturbing.

The original IKEA2032 battery last about two and half months, now it is on the second battery.
